Palfinger UK draws the crowds at Traffex Highways Maintenance event

With the sun beating down across the UK at the end of June, you’d have thought the last place to be was the middle of an open airfield. However, with the Traffex Seeing is Believing event in full swing on 27th and 28th June, that is exactly where you could find over 1,300 highways industry professionals.

Held at Bruntingthorpe aerodrome, Leicestershire, the event combines an indoor conference and exhibition with outdoor displays and demonstrations across two days in June. Seeing is Believing offered visitors the opportunity to get hands on experience of the latest and best products in the market, with a focus on highways maintenance, technology, lighting and road signage.

Palfinger UK were pleased to attend the event this year, hosting a stand in the exhibition centre to advise on Palfinger products, training and service, whilst outside a demonstration team showcased one of our industry leading barrier rigs.

Featuring a Palfinger PK 19.001 SLD5 crane with a 2200kgs lifting capacity at 8 metres, and an Orteco Smart 800 truck mounted Pile Driver capable of delivering up to 680 blows per minute, the barrier rig is perfectly suited for those maintaining highway areas and fitting or replacing posts and barrier systems.

Visitors to the Palfinger UK area were able to see the powerful Orteco machine in action with regular demonstrations from the expert team, as well as the opportunity to find out more about the Palfinger UK barrier rigs and look around the unit on the stand, built on a Mercedes Benz Antos 2535 chassis for Leeds Commercial Vehicle Hire, one of a number on long term to Kier.

Built to customer specification, our barrier rigs can incorporate steel, alloy, GRP or drop side sections, stairways, electrical systems, lighting and much more. The Orteco pile drivers are unique to the market with the ability to both drive and extract posts using a double-action pole extraction system, ideal for specialist applications such as crash barrier installation, fencing contracts and ground-mounted PV solar installations.
