Meet Lewis Handley our newest face in the Dairy Technician team based at Frome. Lewis joined us last month and is busy learning the ropes visiting our Dairy customers in and around the South West.
Lewis has been in farming all his life, growing up on his Grandfather’s 3rd generation family farm with a herd of cows and farming mainly grass and maize. They run a range of kit – many T H WHITE brands we are happy to say – including two Case IH Pumas, a Maxxum, and Hi-Spec feeders. So Lewis has operated and tinkered with agricultural machinery since pre-school, no doubt meeting the grade as a technician by the age of 5!
Lewis attended 6th form at St Peter’s School in Gloucester and then went on to study a BTEC in Sports and Business alongside a gym instructor qualification. Sport is his other passion, having played Rugby Union and League for almost 15 years for Cinderford in the Forest of Dean.
After school, Lewis attained a 2-year engineering apprenticeship at Forest Press Hydraulics – specialist suppliers of concrete wet pressing machinery and paving equipment. Here he specialised in milling, lathe work and bench fitting and learnt the intricacies of machine assembly alongside a weekly college class.
But throughout this Lewis was never far from farming, spending evenings, weekends and holidays back on the family farm. Hearing about the opportunity at T H WHITE from a family friend, Lewis is now spending his days back in the familiar space of dairy parlours, meeting Dairy farmers up and down the county and servicing equipment or solving breakdowns. Home from home – whether with cows or goats – he knows his way around a parlour, and is hitting the ground running with our vast range of DeLaval parlours and technology.
