Following the opening of our new branch at Stockbridge, a major boost to T H WHITE’s Manitou and Gehl dealership business has come with the award of a large new sales territory covering the SP1-SP11 postcodes. Centred on Salisbury, the territory extends from Gillingham in the west to Andover in the east, and Tidworth in the north to Fordingbridge in the south.
This large area was formerly covered by Drews of Dinton. We now look forward to assisting customers with their telehandler and machinery requirements, as well as providing T H WHITE’s famous levels of support. At the same time Manitou has launched a brand new range of telehandlers specifcally designed with farming in mind. Branded ‘NewAg’, these machines sit in the MLT range (Manitou Loader Telescopic) and have been designed around the core principles of comfort, performance and productivity, compliance with Euro Stage IV engine standards, and the overall objective of reducing the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership).
Nine new models are available, derived from three different horsepower ratings and four transmission options. The entry level MLT 630-105 offers a reliable and economic solution for handling agricultural loads on the road or on the farm, with a 101hp engine mated to a manual torque converter transmission with a Powershuttle gearbox. Even this starter model has a lifting height of 6m with a maximum capacity of 3,000kg and an offset of 3.34m.
At the other end of the range the MLT 741-140 V+ will handle up to 4,100kg to a height of 6.9m with an offset of 4.9m, or the MLT 940-140 V+ extends that to a height of 9m with a slightly smaller capacity of 4,000kg and offset of 3.9m. These two machines make use of the M-Vario Plus transmission, a new generation of continuously variable transmission (CVT) which employs a single gear between 0 and 40 km/h, providing optimal torque at low and high speeds and fuel savings estimated at up to 5 per cent.
Two other transmissions are available: a torque converter with powershift plus gearbox which enables the operator to choose between manual and automatic via buttons on the JSM joystick in the
cabin; and the M-Varioshift transmission which matches traction to the task in hand, whether it be optimal torque at low speed for improved loading of agricultural products, or precise material handling at higher speed.
Whatever tasks you want to tackle, there’s a Manitou NewAg power/transmission combination to suit your needs. Besides power and capability, the NewAg machines offer a redesigned cabin with a new roof grid engineered to provide the user with a clear view of the load being handled while maintaining safety. Equipped with a panoramic monobloc windscreen, the NewAg’s cab provides true 360 degree visibility.
Comfort is a major factor too, with easy cab access, a quality seat and the ability to position the double-switch control buttons on the armrest or the dashboard to place all the most regularly used functions at your fingertips. All models in the range are also equipped with the JSM (Joystick Switch & Move), unique to Manitou. Fixed on an unattached armrest, it gives the user single-handed control of raising and lowering the boom, as well as all hydraulic and transmission movements, with minimum action on their part.
At 73db inside the cab while operating, the NewAg has the quietest cab on the market for this type of machine.
Additionally, the NewAg range is equipped with three new ‘Intelligent Hydraulics’ concepts: the ‘Quicklift’, enabling the operator to extend or retract the telescope and lift the boom simultaneously
(notably for storage operations); the ‘Bucket Shaker’, a new function that shakes the bucket via a single movement of the controls; and the ‘Return to Load’ which memorises the exact angle of the initial position of the bucket, enabling an automatic return to the right level, allowing the operator to perform loading operations without adjustment.
The hydraulic pump installed on the NewAg range can deliver a flow of up to 170 l/min, ensuring that all hydraulic movements are smooth.
